- carpo961. September 2026This is a really good biography of Senna. There's no doubt that Senna was a phenomenal driver and one of the greatest talents Formula One has ever seen. However, I don't quite understand why Prost needs to be portrayed as the villain in order to put Senna in the spotlight. What made their rivalry so fascinating was that they came from very different backgrounds. Senna benefited from a privileged upbringing and was able to focus almost entirely on racing from a young age. Prost, on the other hand, had to carve out his own path in a sport that has always required not just talent, but also money, connections, and political awareness. That may explain why Prost often appeared more calculated and pragmatic, both on and off the track. They approached racing differently, but both were exceptional competitors. Senna's brilliance doesn't need to come at the expense of Prost's reputation. The rivalry was compelling precisely because both men were great in their own way, and Formula One was richer for having both of them.
