In Initial D geht es um Takumi Fujiwara, der schon jahrelang Tofu für seinen Vater Bunta über den Mount Akina befördert. Allerdings immer zu Zeiten, an denen andere noch schlafen (ca. 4.00 Uhr morgens), daher wissen seine Freunde und auch die Akina Speed Stars nichts davon. Mit einem Toyota 86 Trueno sammelt er in dieser Zeit erste Fahrerfahrungen, doch als er endlich den Führerschein offiziell besitzt, beginnt seine Karriere als Bergrennfahrer.

How can you not like Initial D? It's got horrible art work? Yeah, true. The story is garbage? Okay, you have a point. The female characters are hoes? I could see that. It's MC is marry sue af? Yeah, okay, that all maybe true but the music, cars and real-life touge racing tactics... Just unbeatable. I love this series, even if most of it is objectively awful, because it's the right kind of awful.
