A drama series about the life of an alcoholic family in a Central Finnish village during the 1970s and 1980s. The family's daughters, Ruut and Birge, are left on their own after their father's death, when their mother's secret drinking spirals out of control. Ruut and Birge struggle to break free from the harsh circumstances of their home in search of their own lives. The story is based on Kreetta Onkeli's novel of the same name.
