Die Diclonii sind Mutanten, welche schreckliche telekinetische Mächte besitzen. Auf Anordnung der Regierung werden sie in Laboren eingesperrt und dort in grausamen Experimenten untersucht. Lucy, einer der gefährlichsten Diclonii, gelingt die Flucht. Sie tötet gnadenlos jeden, der sich ihr dabei in den Weg stellt. Verletzt und ohne Erinnerungen wird sie schließlich von zwei jungen Menschen am Strand gefunden und bei ihnen zu Hause aufgenommen. Kouta und Yuka ahnen nichts von Lucys blutiger Herkunft und nennen sie Nyu, nach dem einzigen Laut den sie aus dem vermeintlich verletzlichen jungen Mädchen herausbekommen. Als eine Spezialeinheit versucht, Lucy ausfindig zu machen, erwacht die Bestie in ihr und es kommt zum Blutbad.
