Their commander, a senior police officer Sachon, who is on active duty, orders Louisiana's group to investigate the matter. In front of the police station there is a ceremony of unveiling a plaque dedicated to the memory of a student killed here by militiamen. Victor tries to shoot Sachon. Overpowered by Manjaro, he commits suicide.

Manjaro is offered a lucrative job by Kalina, the owner of the house where he lives. Kalina, an inconspicuous pensioner, is the head of an informal holding whose nominal owner was the late Krzysztof Stawiski, Manjaro's biological father. Maria, for the first time since being shot, makes an independent movement - she bends her finger.
