- John Chapel22. Februar 2025Holy shit this writing is bad. Its rare you see a greenlit pilot with writing this bad. And I'm not being picky. You can overlook the trite plot (Video store as the proverbial David vs the "Goliath" of technological advance) and the fact that ultimately, there's very little stakes here beyond a handful of very good looking people losing a joe job. But the writing is AWFUL, which frankly, does not make sense, because we're talking about the girl that wrote for Superstore, Brooklyn 99 and the short lived Mr. Mayor. The "jokes" aren't jokes. The punchlines are really politic-heavy; like the kind of punchlines you see on late night shows, which are just opinions place front and center for you to clap at. Agree comedy. 3 minutes in with a breif 1-2 setup about a nostalgic radio DJ from Timmy's (god, that name...) childhood, the punchline is "You just have to be careful about his opinions on pronouns." Just such lazy uninspired almost nonsensical writing. Anyway, its not worth watching. Randal Park is infinitely better in literally everything else he's ever done, including a 3 minute short he did for Channel 102 over two decades ago called "Dr. Miracles"
