August 2026I love the OG IMOQ series but SIGN is a mixed bag: low budget animation (that's typical of the era) where characters just stand around yapping for 5 min stretches, a plot that basiclaly doesn't kick in until Episode 9 and then just kinda mianders until the last 6 episodes, but man, those final six are solid. The music is the real highlight tho, consistently fantastic beginning to end. This show could be trimmed down to like a perfect 12-16 episodes. And I'll warn you, there's no real "end" to this anime and I get the feeling they wanted a second season. There's no point in watching this unless you intend to play the PS2 games as they provide the conclusion for everything set up here.

Das Onlinespiel "The World" zieht Millionen Spieler in seinen Bann, die Stunden oder gar Tage mit dem Spiel verbringen. Ein Ereignis jedoch bringt Chaos in die wohlgeordnete virtuelle Welt: Ein Spieler namens Tsukasa kann sich nicht mehr aus "The World" ausloggen und seine ungewöhnlichen Fähigkeiten stören das Spiel erheblich. Einige andere werden auf die Person aufmerksam, die fähig ist, Dinge zu tun, die sonst keiner zustandebringt. Sie versuchen schließlich ihm zu helfen. Im Laufe ihrer Suche entdecken sie nach und nach, dass "The World" einige Geheimnisse birgt und dass Tsukasas Fähigkeiten in Verbindung mit einem mystischen Gegenstand in der Welt des Spiels stehen könnte - dem legendären Schlüssel der Dämmerung ...
