While the cgi does not hold up the live effects are really good and mystique is still super hot 🥵

8/10 Honestly a pretty good start to the X-Men franchise. I liked the whole idea of mutants basically being treated like a different race and how the movie uses that to create the conflict between Xavier and Magneto. Xavier wants mutants and humans to live together peacefully while Magneto is basically like “yeah fuck that, humans are never gonna accept us” and chooses the more forceful approach. I also really liked Wolverine and Rogue, and how Wolverine slowly starts finding a purpose with the X-Men. The powers were obviously fun too. The story isn’t perfect and some of the characters could’ve been developed more, but for a that basically had to establish this whole world, I thought it did a solid job. Definitely interested to see where the franchise goes from here.

It's just got it. One of the first superhero movies that in my opinion greatly contributed to the comic movie boom that was to come. To start this movie off you get one of the best opening scenes of any marvel movie. Super emotional harrowing scene of Jews going to be gassed and burned. The tragedy of little Magneto being separated from his family being the stimulus that forced him to adapt is so sad. This scene made me tear up. The only thing that could have made this scene even more brutal was if they actually showed the smoke rising from the stack. They cut right before you see the smoke. I loved the mood of the initial bar scene where Rogue meets Wolverine for the first time. Really cool mood to the whole place. I thought it was hilarious and cool at the same time that they just have random barrels of fire calmly burning in the background. Like who doesn't have burn barrels inside their bar? The characters in this X-Men movie are top notch. From the main side characters to the sidekick villains. They all are great casting choices. Sabretooth is so badass. He barely talks. When he does it matters. His presence does the rest. "Scream for me" is iconic. You can tell he must have a little crush on Storm. The scene where they are about to install the radiation machine on the Statue of Liberty. Sabretooth just casually spine fucks that guard with his talons was brutal and awesome at the same time. Poor guy. This Jean Grey is probably the best and hottest Jean Grey that we have ever gotten. As with many Comic Book movies you can't micro manage the plot. It's going to have holes and irrational things will happen. Like one random boy tells Rouge she did a boo boo so she just up and leaves the one place she's been accepted without talking to anyone? No teaches no Logan just up and leaves. Or the Magneto bullet trick where the guy has the spinney bullet burrowing into his forehead. Pretty sure physics doesn't work like that and why couldn't he just move his head backwards? Or the ending when Logan transfers his powers to Rouge why would already healed wounds suddenly reappear. These things are just meant to add to the drama. You aren't supposed to tear them all apart and try and have it makes sense. It's a comic book movie! It doesn't have to make sense. The quippy comedy really works for me as well. It's not overdone like in most of the new movies. It's sparsely throughout the movie and doesn't take away from the more serious parts of the movie. My favorite line is when Logan reappears and Scott asks him to prove his identity and Logan responds with "You're a dick". Scott completely agrees and they just move on. Cracked me up. The ending is excellent. This had me getting choked up as well. You think she's dead but of course she isn't. Logan saves her by transferring his powers to her. Bing bang boom the day is saved and everyone can go back to their mansion. Great movie. Will forever have a place on The Movie Wall.

A really solid start for the X-Men movies and one that still holds up pretty well. It does a good job introducing the characters and the whole idea of mutants living in a world that fears them without making things too complicated. The cast is great, especially Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen, who bring a lot to the rivalry between Professor X and Magneto. Hugh Jackman also makes Wolverine instantly memorable and brings a lot of attitude to the role. The movie keeps things more grounded, which helps the story feel more personal. The action is a bit limited compared to newer superhero movies, but the story and characters are what carry it. Some parts feel a little dated, especially with the effects and pacing, but it still has a lot of charm. It’s not the biggest or flashiest superhero movie, but it has a strong foundation and a lot of personality. A simple but effective movie that helped kick off a much bigger franchise.

Yeah this movie is a banger I love the way the mutants use the powers specifically Storm. Minus the weakling that is Sabretooth, the rest of the villains are pretty strong and have their own time to shine. Magneto is an absolute menace and I cannot wait for what he has in store for the X-Men in the sequel. I actually quite like the black leather suits there’s something about them that are pleasant. And who could forget Hugh Jackman’s portrayal as Wolverine cos imo it’s the best he’s fantastic in this movie and truly embodies this character perfectly and the only one close that I can think of is Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man. My only issue is that some of the effects are pretty noticeably bad and Storm’s one liner towards Toad I didn’t get but that’s my only negatives.

Classic super hero movie - fight scenes and CG are a little outdated but that’s standard for a movie this age. Solid story.

X-Men is first superhero team movie in history. Also it is Marvel's first movie with a high budget. Movie is amazing about storytelling, especially in first one hour. I really liked the world they created. But then it becomes a bit meaningless and complicated. CGI's are good for 2000. Actors and actresses are awesome with their roles, every one of them. This film have some surprising scenes, especially with Mistique. Bryan Singer made a good job at all.

These Old X-Men films aren't written that well but growing up with this is nostalgic and feels acceptable. The costumes are still lame but the characters are pretty decent. The actors for Magneto, professor X, Wolverine are really good. I thought the actress for Storm was good except the line given to Toad 😂. They butchered Rogue rubbish script for her.

As a lifelong X-Men fan I was skeptical at the time when this came out that it would be any good, and while this no masterpiece and had a lot of room for improvement as the sequel showed, the movie was a pleasant surprise and helped lay the foundation (along with Spider-Man) for what would later come with the MCU.

A sharp, grounded intro that set the tone for modern superhero films. The team dynamics feel fresh without overdoing it. Magneto and Xavier bring real dramatic weight. Simple, tight, and surprisingly easy to love even today
