Der Sommer 1981 neigt sich dem Ende zu und im Camp Firewood bricht der letzte Tag der Feriensaison an, an dem jeder sich vornimmt, das nachzuholen, was er in den Wochen zuvor versäumt hat. In all dem Chaos versucht Campleiterin Beth, einen kühlen Kopf zu bewahren und für Ordnung zu sorgen. Doch schließlich erwischt es auch sie, als sie sich in den Astrophysiker Henry verguckt. Der hat allerdings schlechte Neuigkeiten, droht doch ein Teil einer defekten NASA-Raumstation auf das Camp zu stürzen. Gemeinsam setzen Beth und Henry daher alles daran, dies zu verhindern. Unterdessen möchte der liebenswürdige Betreuer Coop am letzten Tag endlich seiner Kollegin Katie seine wahren Gefühle gestehen, obwohl sie eigentlich mit dem rebellischen Macho Andy zusammen ist, der es allerdings mit der Treue nicht so genau nimmt. Derweil laufen auch die Vorbereitungen für eine abendliche Talentshow auf Hochtouren, mit der die Betreuer Susie und Ben die Ferien unvergesslich abschließen wollen.
