- Charles London7. April 2025I first saw this movie when it was released to theaters in 1986. The flight sequences were electrifying and spectacular. It felt like you were up in the air flying with the planes. The scenes in between however, were a lot less spectacular, especially the Hollywood love-story which felt contrived and unbelievable. I would liken the experience to visiting a theme park on a crowded day. Going on the big rides is thrilling, but the waiting lines in between, not so much. All in all though, it's a fun time. Streaming the movie today on a home screen doesn't quite recreate the theater experience. The soundtrack is still just as impressive and the flight sequences still look prertty darn good, but they loose half a star on a smaller screen. As for the rest of the film... well, it still is what it is, a queue between thrill rides.
- Kevin Ward12. Juli 2025Tony Scott’s direction of the dogfights and the aerial combat is so good. The rest of it is so very 80’s for better or worse. Watched this with our kids for the first time since they’re looking forward to Top Gun: Maverick. Loaded with classic one-liners, iconic scenes, and a seminal soundtrack, it’s hard not to give this high marks even if some of the elements don’t hold up as well as others. 4.5 stars easy.
- Pissed Off Papa16. Oktober 2025Everytime I hear Harold or Kenny Loggins play their songs, I just have to watch this movie. This is by far the best out of the 2 movies, and we get to see Val Kilmer shine bright. I cant even count how many times I have watched this and will continue to watch it over and over.

Der junge Lieutenant Pete „Maverick“ Mitchell ist ein Kampfpilot bei der United States Navy. Bei einer heiklen Mission müssen Maverick und sein Waffensystemoffizier Nick „Goose“ Bradshaw die Befehle ihres Kommandanten „Stinger“ missachten, um einem Kameraden zu helfen, der eine Panikattacke bekommen hat. Dadurch werden Maverick und Goose von Stinger widerwillig für die Ausbildung bei der United States Navy Fighter Weapons School, genannt „Top Gun“, vorgeschlagen. Dort liefert sich Maverick gleich eine Rivalität mit dem Flugschüler Tom „Iceman“ Kazanski. Außerdem bekommt er durch seine rücksichtslose Flugweise Probleme. Er gewinnt zwar regelmäßig Flugkämpfe, z.B. gegen Ausbilder Leutnant Commander Rick „Jester“ Heatherly, bricht dabei jedoch Einsatzregeln und handelt nicht gerade teamfähig.
