- Dan The Man Kearney19. Oktober 20251/10 This never needed to be made again i watched the original Years back which that was an "Okay" movie at best but then at that time was a cool concept. And why did they make another to waste money that's why (8.5 Million Dollars to be factual) this movie has every single movie trope to it dumb people even dumber killers the amount of money that is wasted yearly to make trash movies is just Disgusting with how many people around the world are homeless and starving and yet we spend MILLIONS on trash shit like this baffles me everyday
- Zokkiie16. Oktober 2025Total shitefest. All the suspense and grit of the original are gone, replaced with cheap jumps and dull characters. Feels lazy, predictable, and completely pointless. 1.5 stars is being kind.
- ርልዪረ14. Oktober 2025I really do not get everyone's hate on this film. I've seen the originals strangers movies and I can honestly say this film is 10 times better than the first. Yes it's cliche with bf who has inhaler and gf who trips over things as all horror movies are. But it has you very tense the whole time watching it with jump scares. Madelaine did an amazing job with her acting and everyone's acting in it is very good. Definately scarier than the original in my opinion. I didnt think the set up was slow at all considering how long the first strangers took for any action to happen. It was very similar to the original as expected but it definately had a more modern and better cinematography about it. I would highly reccomend this film and I look forward to the following movies it will hopefully make
- jackmeat9. Januar 2026My quick rating - 4.5/10. The Strangers: Chapter 1 sets up a familiar scenario that should work effortlessly. A couple driving cross-country toward a fresh start in the Pacific Northwest breaks down, rent a secluded house for the night, and is stalked by three masked strangers from dusk till dawn. It’s a premise that practically writes itself, and even more so when one takes into account what made The Strangers so memorable. Sadly, this particular entry in the now extensive canon of slasher remakes feels more like a comedic example of how not to be scared and how characters have obviously never seen a slasher film before. First, the script makes nonsensical decisions right off the bat. "Ladies, if you really think someone is sneaking around your home, do you really think your first move should be to climb in the shower?" Not to barricade the door, not to grab a weapon, no call for assistance, but to take a nice warm rinse? Moments like this pile up quickly. At one point, after an axe has literally been taken to both the front door and the bedroom door, a character suggests, “Maybe they left. They’re fucking with us.” No. They’re very clearly not just “fucking with you.” IMDb lists three writers, and somehow not one of them stopped to ask whether any of this behavior resembles something a real human being might do. Because of these constant lapses in logic, the tension never truly takes hold. It flickers on for a brief moment and then dies out almost instantly as the confounding choices that seem to plague the series catch up to it once again. There’s surprisingly little suspense in the series, given the fact that the series is meant to rely on suspense. This entry moves at a crawl, and the tension never really builds to the sense of suffocating dread that the series is famous for. The acting doesn’t help. A lot of blank staring, mute emotions, and emotional numbness in the face of fear and desperation. When your leads do not credibly display terror, it becomes extremely difficult to find concern for them to make it through the night. That’s especially damaging here, since this flick leans heavily on mood rather than action. Speaking of action, there are essentially no kills to speak of. This is a glaring deficiency for a home invasion slasher film. There are a couple of good frights scattered throughout, but they are nothing more than isolated instances. The masked strangers themselves appear like decorations instead of actual threats when they are reduced down to nothing but darkness. The most notable moment arrives at the end, when the movie slaps up an inevitable “To Be Continued.” If you loved what you saw here, that might be welcome news. However, for most people, it is more of a warning. “The Strangers: Chapter 1” is not suspenseful, scary, or smart enough to be needed as chapter one in this story. It merely feels like an oversized prologue that's been suffocated by poor writing, illogical thinking, and some absurd underdelivering. Apart from two or three interesting frights, you will be left more irked than frightened, and that’s not exactly the feeling I was hoping for.
- LivewireAdmin2. Dezember 2025I remember when the trailer dropped for The Strangers back in 08 and I was unbelievably excited for a new type of horror that didn't really completely on jump scares. Unfortunately I thought that movie was terrible and a complete waste of my time. Give the guy who edited the trailer award though. So has anything improved over the last 16 years? No, not at all. We've got another set of completely inept protagonists and off-brand Jason along with his mundane girlfriends. Call me a masochist though because I'm about to jump in to Chapter 2.
- Ajay25. Oktober 2025As a wise man once said, "the problem with horror is that it's predictable. I said that. I'm the wise man. And this wise man has to be honest - The Strangers Chapter 1 is so predictable and dull that it's quite difficult to keep engaged. The casting, acting, soundtrack and writing all fall apart very quickly, and are only moderately supported by the setpieces (which aren't that great). I honestly don't know what to expect from these kinds of films anymore. So many movies choose to embrace a stereotypical / run-of-the-mill plot that I can guarantee every scene is a copy from a horror flick you've seen before. The unoriginality and poor attempt at "chilling your spine" fall quite short of doing some good scaring.
- Niztradamus14. Oktober 2025Not quite as boring as the original but still rather dull. The acting is solid enough and the score is the real outstanding part of this movie. The surround design was good. That being said, the story is the same as every other Strangers movie with even some recycled iconic lines as easter eggs for franchise fans. Call me nitpicky but what really stood out for me negatively is a specific shotgun in the movie. Either it's a pressured air gun you have to pump up or someone really doesn't understand the concept of cocking a shotgun. 10 pumps per shot are 9 too many!
- Johan Potgieter25. Juni 2025Very slow and rather boring. Not a lot of action. If you have run out of horror to watch then give this a go otherwise I would recommend to skip it.
- cultfilmliker26. Februar 2025FYI: it is that bad and it does not need to be seen to be believed Rob Zombie keeps inspiring! They even cast Richard Brake! Was ready for this couple to die 9 minutes in. Acting so bad I honestly enjoyed it. The request to fix the fridge was outlandish lol and then to immediately be so ignorant to anyone potentially coming to the property lmao her next conversation involves her being thankful “no crazy people are yelling at 2 AM” lol it’s so good. Thank GOD we weren’t forced to sit through the two main characters’ vapid and uncharismatic back and forth any more than we already were subjected to. How did they let them go on for so long? Or did it just feel that long? All of the dialogue is frustratingly boring and the scares are scarce and weak. And then I love that they keep using that to lull you to sleep just to be underwhelmed by the next formulaic fright. As for the main two actors: Acting is reacting and they’re swinging at nothing. Human accompaniment advised; fucking and/or riffing encouraged. Absolutely nothing new or noteworthy about this film! 😀 MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD ⬇️ If you’re not going to shoot them in the face, knock them the fuck out?? Literally lol’d when they sobbed - it was so bad. Then the huge music build up leading to the main villain….KICKING THE MAIN GUY’S CHAIR OVER 😱🤮 BUT HE DOESN’T STOP THERE! YEP, HER CHAIR TOO. 😱🤯 What an ending. 😚👌🏼
