- DropsyRocio25. November 2025The satirical portrayal of the petit bourgeois that exists in today's Europe. I can't speek for other places. I feel reluctant of giving this film 4 stars, because despite the masterly depictions of the stereotypical characters such as the completely insufferable Anne: the American young woman defined by her privilege, blonde hair and pseudo feminism or the stupid ugly office assistants who are either the diversity hire or the cousin. I mean I can go on and on typing these descriptions of people. What I want to say is that I am just not so interested in themes of the film. It gives me the opposite of inspiration. The main character is pathetic and hot, he reminds me of a friend I had. Please let me know if you had friend like that. I want to make a list of pathetic art guys. Christian ist der smarte Kurator eines großen Museums in Stockholm. Die nächste spektakuläre Ausstellung, die er vorbereitet, ist „The Square“. Es handelt sich um einen Platz, der als moralische Schutzzone fungieren und das schwindende Vertrauen in die Gemeinschaft hinterfragen soll. Doch wie bei den meisten modernen Menschen reicht auch bei Christian das Vertrauen nicht weit – er wohnt abgeschottet in einem stylishen Apartment und würde seinen Tesla nicht unbeaufsichtigt in einer zwielichtigen Gegend parken. Als Christian ausgeraubt wird und ihm kurz darauf die provokante Mediakampagne zu „The Square“ um die Ohren fliegt, geraten sein Selbstverständnis wie auch sein Gesellschaftsbild schwer ins Wanken …
