- jackmeat5. Oktober 2025My quick rating - 5.7/10. Another one that has been on Radarr for a long time. Five Finger Death Punch was featured to be in it or doing the soundtrack. Something along those lines, so that is what alerted me to it. It starts off with your standard scene to suck you into the story. Then it trails off into a decent story of who our characters are, including a preacher (Michael Lombardi) and his kids. The backstory to what is going on is part of a backdrop for an underground drug ring leading to a gang war. Stylistically, they do a good job of providing the necessary content to define each enough to keep you intrigued as to how these things all will tie together. It takes a very dark turn when the preacher's kid gets caught in the crossfire and is killed for no apparent reason, and a cop who is out for vengeance for his own wife's murder hands the preacher the killer on a silver platter for redemption. What follows really makes you wonder who in the world is good or bad in this flick. It is more like, who is the lesser level of evil really? It turns to complete mayhem and explains something you heard in the opening scene when you see someone being attacked who says, "They aren't zombies." I am keeping it somewhat vague since part of the fun is the lead-up to what is going on here. It isn't perfect by any means, but between a fairly original idea going on, along with some good metal music for a backdrop, it certainly leads to some gory entertainment. This all leads in a full circle to the beginning of the flick, and our pastor is turned into his best blood-soaked Ash impersonation (seems a lot of Evil Dead homages lately) to fight the "not" zombies. You will have to be patient since the first half or so of this flick feels much more like a crime film dealing with criminals and drug dealers, but when it kicks over into the horror genre, it does so frenetically and is worth the downtime. I am not saying this is close to as good as From Dusk till Dawn, but that is the type of feel it gives, where it plays as one type of movie and then completely switches gears on you. Although this flick alludes to what is coming, the Tarantino/Rodriguez flick did NOT. And what it brings is worth checking out.
