DERRICK HOLMES is an up and coming criminal defense attorney who just was handed his first major case. MALIK CASTRO. Malik and his team robbed a jewelry store and shot a security guard. He's looking at 10 years. They lose. And Malik is sentenced. Derrick is devastated about his first loss and worried because Malik threatened him right before sentenced. 1 month later Derrick is at a Diner when these Italians spot and take him to their boss "Sammi" who is having legal issues and offers him $1.5 if they win his case. Gives him 500K up front. Derrick is worried because he doesn't have what it takes.
