This movie made me laugh from start to finish because of how confidently it embraces its silly tone and how committed the cast is to making every moment entertaining. Watching it reminded me how comforting a simple, funny movie can be when it is made with a lot of heart. Steve Martin is the highlight of the film. His performance as Inspector Clouseau is full of energy, charm, and perfect comedic timing. What makes him so great in this role is the way he plays Clouseau with complete seriousness, even when everything he does is ridiculous. The mystery at the center of the story is simple, but that is actually what makes the movie work. It does not try to be a complicated crime film. The mystery is there to support the comedy instead of being the main focus.
