- Todd Dale22. April 2026I guess my rating is high- I saw The Hindenburg as a little kid at the movies. Also, I am a sucker for a good/bad 1970's movie. It shared the box office that year with the legendary thriller Jaws. The New York Times described the film as "brainless" and "pricelessly funny at the wrong moments ... Yet I wouldn't have missed a single foolish frame of it. I sort of like disaster movies, even bad ones, for reasons that have to do with the special effects and with other things that probably go back to the prenatal state." That about says it all.
- Zokkiie14. August 2026I liked this a lot more when it was playing as a mystery. The first half has a pretty fun conspiracy plot going on, with the question of who might be behind the planned sabotage keeping things interesting. There's also a ridiculous amount of detail in the production, and the Hindenburg itself is recreated really well. The second half doesn't hold up as well. Once the mystery starts taking a back seat, it becomes a slower disaster movie and spends a lot more time on characters and situations that aren't nearly as interesting. The tension also takes a hit because you already know exactly where everything is heading. Still, it's a decent 70s disaster movie with a genuinely strong first half.

One memorable moment came during the end credits, which revealed the fate of each character one by one. When it was announced that the dog had survived, the entire audience erupted in spontaneous applause and cheers, with many people tossing their popcorn boxes into the air in celebration. It was a fun, communal theater moment that perfectly captured the shared excitement of the crowd.
