The movie relies on classic horror tricks but also knows how to build tension more subtly. Some scenes, especially those involving possession, genuinely give you goosebumps. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson once again complement each other perfectly, giving the story an emotional core. While the sequel doesn’t break new ground, its atmosphere, characters, and well-crafted suspense make it a solid and satisfying horror film that is definitely worth watching.

Even if the scares are a touch reliant on jump scares, most are set up extremely well and are quite chilling—the nun, especially. I can see why she was spun off a new franchise. Plus, I can’t help but love anything with Vera Farmiga.
