The next day the father receives an anonymous letter from the desperate lover, warning him that the secret society. The Friends of Humanity, are after him. Judson advertises himself as a detective and is hired to defeat their purpose. Judson acquires the confidence of the father and regardless of what happens, his slogan is, "Leave it to him." Using this ruse as a means to an end, eventually results in Judson's marriage to Mabel.
