- ርልዪረvor 2 TagenAn incredibly clever and meta take on the horror comedy genre. It is both a love letter and a criticism on the cliches and tropes used in horror movies. What makes this film unique is how it uses the tropes for its narrative purpose. I personally, would move or remove some of the scenes in the first act to give the movie a sense of mystery. There is a lot of scenes with a certain duo that I feel would have been better introduced in the second act. That way the first act feels more like a cliche horror movie because it gets completely flipped on its head in the second act. Apart from that, I find this to be a throughly enjoyable film!
- Shaydeknight24. Oktober 2025The Cabin in the Woods is a wonderful, genre-bending film that works equally well as a funny and smart horror flick or a ghastly and frightening comedy. I found everything about this movie fantastic, from the concept to the execution, resulting in a cohesive and deeply satisfying experience. The film’s genius lies in its inventive premise: the tired tropes of the horror genre are revealed to be orchestrated by a government organization regulating all monsters on the planet. This organization manufactures the classic scenarios (the secluded cabin, the somewhat Jungian character archetypes) to conduct ritualistic sacrifices that appease ancient Lovecraftian elder gods. It's not an intellectual film by any means, but it's smart enough that even the most pontificating academic can sit back and just have a bit of fun. The film is well written and well put together, with everything making perfect sense within the scope of the unique world being created. The characters, who are cleverly set up to be the opposite of what's normally found in horror films, struggle against the forces manipulating them into becoming clichés. The great performances by the whole cast elevate the material, but for me, Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford stand out as the true stars. As a couple of bureaucratic administrators, their casual, business-as-usual approach is at complete odds with the horrific situation and what is happening to the college students. This fantastic contrast is why the film ultimately works, providing both the dark humour and the meta-commentary that makes this an unforgettable horror deconstruction.

Die fünf Freunde Curt, Dana, Jules, Marty und Holden planen einen ganz speziellen Weekendtrip: Curts Cousin besitzt nämlich ein Haus, welches sie besuchen wollen. Endlich mal wieder für sich sein und so richtig feiern ist der Plan. Doch als sie das Anwesen nach einer langen Autofahrt endlich finden, ist die Ernüchterung gross: Die „Hütte“ ist nämlich tatsächlich eine Hütte. Genauer gesagt eine ruinenartige Waldhütte, die abgelegen im dunklen Schatten der dichten Bäume steht. Ganz heimelig sieht es hier nicht aus: Knarrende Fußböden und unheimlich skurrile Gemälde an den Wänden begrüßen die muntere Truppe. Doch sie lassen sich dadurch den Spaß nicht nehmen und richten sich im Gruselhaus ein. Als sich die Jungs und Mädels gerade mit einer Runde „Truth or Dare“ vergnügen, springt urplötzlich eine Türe im Boden auf, die in den dunklen Keller führt …
