Coming out of the small town in Texas, Tex Cobb made an unlikely rise from the gridiron to the dojo to the boxing and then to Hollywood. He would become known as one of boxing's toughest fighters, showing off a granite chin in bouts versus heavyweight destroyers like Earnie Shavers, Ken Norton and Larry Holmes. His irreverence and quick wit would get him noticed in Hollywood as he would then parlay his personality into getting roles into such films as Raising Arizona and Ace Ventura.
