Sullenberger zum absoluten Helden in den USA, aber auch weltweit, weil „Sully“ mit seinem Airbus A320 eine Notwasserung auf dem Hudson River in New York durchführen musste. Ein Schwarm Vögel war in die Triebwerke des Fliegers geraten und hatte für deren Ausfall gesorgt, so dass die Maschine abzustürzen drohte. Alle 155 Personen überlebten die Notlandung nahezu unverletzt und trotzdem musste der Pilot bei den nachfolgenden Untersuchungen zu dem Unfall und der Notlandung um seinen guten Ruf als erfahrener Pilot fürchten, den er sich mit mehr als 20.000 Flugstunden hart erarbeitet hat.

All the actors are excellent, but especially Tom Hanks, who has been in similar crises so many times and has shown the human side of these situations so many times that we would trust him on board a spaceship even if we knew that he was just an actor...
- Patrick Keller13. März 2025Sully is a solid watch on Plex, especially if you're into real-life stories or Tom Hanks. Directed by Clint Eastwood, it tells the story of the "Miracle on the Hudson," where Captain Sully (Hanks) lands a plane on the Hudson River, saving everyone on board. But the movie's really about what happens after—the stress, the doubts, and the investigation that follows. Hanks is great as always, playing Sully with quiet intensity. Aaron Eckhart is solid as his co-pilot, and the crash scenes are intense, especially in HD on Plex. The sound design is awesome too, so if you've got a good setup, you'll feel like you're in the cockpit. It's not a long movie (just over 90 minutes), so it doesn't drag, but it still hits hard emotionally. My only gripe is that the NTSB folks come off a bit too "villainy," which feels a little forced. But overall, it's a tight, well-made drama that's perfect for a chill night on Plex. Add it to your "True Stories" or "Tom Hanks" collection—you won't regret it. - ርልዪረ20. Februar 2025This film, in the hands of a lesser Director or lead actor, could have been a schmalzfest. Thinking at the way this film might have been tackled by others, and the way these films were done in the past, I was really hesitant to watch it. The last plane crash film I sat through was the appalling 'Left Behind', with it's terrible acting, plot and special effects I feared the worst for this outing. But in this film, there were no unnecessarily long backstories on cast and crew, or two dimensional characters who you are supposed to root for, or boo such as the newly- wed couple, freckly precocious kid, selfish businessman etc. Thankfully, this version of this remarkable story, is told with a subtly different perspective, and whilst the actual ditching if the flight in the Hudson, is dealt with, and in forensic detail, the main thrust of the story is the aftermath. As usual, Tom Hanks puts in a compelling and utterly believable performance, and with Eastwood's firm hand on the direction tiller, this film is just great. It's odd, I remember the event, but had no idea how much the crew were put through the mill afterwards, so you can only commend the film- makers here, for bringing this appalling injustice to light. It is good to be reminded, from time to time, just how skilled and talented some of the professional people around us are, and how they deserve our thanks for the way that they can perform the extraordinary at times when no less than the extraordinary is required.
