Februar 2025Starred up is a hard hitting British prison drama I haven't seen scum so I can't compare between the two movies but Jack O' Connell delivers a excellent performance as Eric a troubled youth getting moved to adult prison life isn't all that easy for Eric and has to be taught how to survive the brutal side of adult prison life of course the movie is not for everyone with it's strong language and violence but if you don't mind that and want to watch a good British prison movie starred up is definitely for you

Juni 2026Starred Up is an extremely well acted prison drama with Jack O’Connell as an incredibly young but hard edged con, newly sentenced and trying to navigate the ins and outs of the system. He ends up serving time alongside his long‑estranged father (Ben Mendelssohn), who more or less has his run of the place. There’s a real want between them to perhaps mend what’s left of their relationship, but the brutal reality of prison life doesn’t always allow for that kind of softness. Both men wrestle with sanding down those rough edges, while still keeping the armor they need to survive. Also features Rupert Friend’ as the prison counsellor who takes an interest in piercing O’Connell’s violent exterior. Really loved the performances in this. Incredibly compelling. I’m honestly surprised I hadn’t heard of this before just a few days ago.

Nun hat die britische Justiz genug und verlegt ihn von einer Jugendstrafanstalt in ein Gefängnis für erwachsene Straftäter. Tatsächlich scheint sich der gewalttätige junge Mann mit einem Leben hinter Gittern bereits arrangiert zu haben und gibt auch im Knast den harten Hund - nur dass er es jetzt mit anderen Kalibern zu tun hat und eine Abreibung nach der andern kassiert. Trost und Hoffnung spendet ihm der unkonventionelle Therapeut Oliver, der Eric einen Ausweg aus dem kriminellen Teufelskreis aufzeigen will. Indes scheint auch der Insasse Neville ein Auge auf den jungen Krawallmacher geworfen zu haben, da er in ihm seinen Sohn wiedererkennt…
