Seit der Vernichtung der Jedi-Ritter steht die Galaxie unter der grausamen Herrschaft des Imperiums. Nur eine kleine Gruppe von Rebellen, angeführt von der schönen Prinzessin Leia, widersetzt sich der dunklen Macht. Als es ihnen gelingt, die geheimen Baupläne für den gefährlichen Todesstern zu entwenden, gerät das Imperium in Aufruhr. Durch Zufall gelangen die Pläne ausgerechnet in die Hände des Farmerjungen Luke Skywalker, der spürt, dass er sein bisheriges Leben hinter sich lassen muss. Gemeinsam mit dem weisen Obi-Wan Kenobi, den Weltraumabenteurern Han Solo und Chewbacca sowie den Droiden R2-D2 und C-3PO nimmt er den Kampf gegen das mächtige Imperium auf. Es beginnt ein Wettlauf gegen die Zeit, denn der Kampfstern kann nur vor seiner Fertigstellung zerstört werden...

The pacing is tight, the characters feel timeless, and that sense of wonder is still there from the first shot to the last. It’s adventurous, funny, sincere, and somehow bigger than itself. And yeah — that final trench run never gets old. Absolute classic.

The movie delivers everything: thrilling dogfights in space, heroic rescues, dramatic sword duels lightsaber duels and one of the most explosive finales in cinematic history. And let’s not forget John Williams’ legendary score. The Force theme. The Trench run. And of course Binary Suns which is one of the most beautifully conducted musical scenes in cinematic history. Star Wars took a simple formula with a narrative constructed off of cherry picked ideas from other stories and gave fans an amazing sci-fi fantasy that continues to inspire future generations.

It was a serendipitously a near perfect film created the perfect time when sci-fi could mature to this point and create fandom in a way that hadn't been created before. Fascinating for its cultural mythology as it moved onwards to define itself as one of the most important franchises of the 20th and later the 21st century it is a tragedy in and of its own how it completely dissolved into meaningless corporate ghost of itself. But this one. Especially without all The changes Lucas tact on somewhere in the middle of the '90s has a pureness to it that is clear how it made out to be something so special that lasted for so long.

September 2025The perfect storm of great actors, great story, great director/writers, great music, the greatest fx (if you watch the original theatrical and not the dodgy updated versions) and as the story goes great editing. Proof it doesn't all fall to one person. From the opening roar of trumpets to the crawl to the final explosion and lack of wookie award - perfect perfect perfect. They don't make em like this anymore, and in most cases just destroy it's heritage. Pretend The Last Jedi crap etc doesn't exist and just go back to those original three - even the ewoks don't seem so lame anymore.
