- Richard12. Oktober 2025This one’s a scrappy gem from South Korea’s sci-fi vault. Space Sweepers imagines a future where Earth is choking on pollution and orbital junk is big business. The crew of the Victory, led by a brooding ex-soldier, a badass captain, a wisecracking robot and a grumpy engineer. The aren’t heroes, but survivors. Until they find Dorothy, a mysterious child who might be a weapon, a miracle, or both. The visuals are stunning, especially for a film made on a fraction of a Hollywood budget. The action is kinetic, the humor lands and the found family dynamic gives it heart. It’s got shades of Guardians of the Galaxy, but with a distinctly Korean soul: class struggle, corporate dystopia and emotional beats that sneak up on you. You saw it maybe first on Netflix like I did and it probably surprised you. It’s not perfect, the plot gets tangled and some exposition feels heavy, but it’s earnest, energetic and full of charm. The kind of movie you didn’t expect to love, but you did. It’s not just space junk. It’s a story worth salvaging.

Im Jahr 2092 gibt es eine Reihe von Raumschiffen, deren Besatzungen sich ihren Lebensunterhalt verdienen, indem sie die Trümmer anderer Raumschiffe und sonstigen Weltraumschrott einsammeln. An Bord des Raumschiffs Victory hat die Kapitänin Jang das Sagen. Ihre Crew besteht aus dem genialen Piloten Kim Tae-ho, dem Schiffsingenieur Tiger Park und einem umprogrammierten Militärroboter namens Bubs. Beim Einsammeln eines weiteren verunglückten Raumschiffs stößt die Besatzung der Victory auf ein siebenjähriges Mädchen, bei dem es sich um ein menschenartigen Roboter handelt, nach dem offensichtlich auch die UTS Space Guards suchen. Also entschließen Jang und ihre Leute, ein Lösegeld für das Mädchen zu verlangen …
Die Hauptcharaktere in Space Sweepers sind Tae-ho (Song Joong-ki), Captain Jang (Kim Tae-ri), Bubs (voice) (Yoo Hai-jin).
