Schneewittchen ist jung und schön. Deshalb wird ihre Stiefmutter, die böse Königin, regelrecht vom Neid zerfressen. Denn sie will um jeden Preis die schönste Frau im ganzen Land sein, doch wegen ihrer Stieftochter wird daraus eben nichts. Das lässt sie auch der magische Spiegel (Stimme im englischen Original: Patrick Page) regelmäßig wissen. Schneewittchens Leben bei der Königin wird deshalb immer unerträglicher. Also fasst sie sich eines Tages ein Herz und ergreift die Flucht. Ihr Weg führt sie tief in den Wald, wo sie schließlich auf ein Haus stößt und sich darin versteckt. Was sie jedoch nicht weiß: Dort leben die sieben Zwerge Pimpel, Chef, Seppel, Brummbär, Happy, Schlafmütz und Hatschi.

Haven’t cared for any of the various other adaptations (Mirror Mirror, Snow White and The Huntsman, etc), so this probably didn’t much of a chance with me outside of extremely low expectations. I really liked Zegler, obviously her incredible singing voice goes a long way and I actually liked the vibrant visuals in many of the scenes. But that’s about where the positives end. It continues to be a story that just doesn’t resonate with me. And oof…Gal Gadot. Pretty dreadful performance. Though, I will say, I thought she had a pretty good singing voice. These live-action remakes will undoubtedly continue to churn.

- Rabb Young23. März 2025I just watched the new Snow White remake, and wow, what a trainwreck. This thing is a soulless cash grab that spits on the original fairy tale. The acting? Stiff as a board—Rachel Zegler’s Snow White has all the charm of a wet sock, and don’t get me started on the dwarves, or whatever those CGI gremlins were supposed to be. The plot’s a mess, zigzagging between preachy monologues and pointless musical numbers that sound like they were written by a tone-deaf AI. Visually, it’s a garish overload—think cheap Instagram filters slapped on a $200 million budget. Even the evil queen couldn’t save this disaster, and she’s usually the best part! Save your money and rewatch the 1937 classic instead—this one’s only good for inducing naps.
