- jackmeat20. März 2025My quick rating - 6.8/10. Well acted as you can expect and a pre-wisecracking Ryan Reynolds. Denzel is great as America's most wanted and plays the part very well. The movie does not let up as a CIA agent is forced into keeping a fugitive alive who has turned himself into custody after being missing for 9 years. Apparently, he has some SERIOUS information on all of the major intelligence organizations around the globe, and everyone wants their hands on him. So when Reynolds is there to keep him alive after a hit on his life, basically every secret group identifiable with letters (CIA, etc.) is out to get them. So who can Reynolds trust? Have to watch the movie to find out, and the only drawback to it is just that question. Oh, don't think I saw this before.

It’s essentially a 115-minute job interview where the stakes are "death" and the recruiter is a sociopathic rogue agent.

It may not be the smartest movie ever made, but hey, give me Ryan and Denzel giving life to the dumbest characters shooting their way across town while building rapport any day and you can sign up to that sucker.

Agent Matt Weston wurde damit beauftragt, die Insassen des sogenannten Safe House zu betreuen. Hier werden unter anderem Zeugen untergebracht, bevor sie vor Gericht aussagen. Für einen jungen CIA-Agenten also alles andere als aufregend und nicht gerade das, was man sich unter dem Job vorgestellt hat. Das ändert sich allerdings schlagartig, als kein geringerer als Tobin Frost ins Safe House kommt. Frost ist ein ehemaliger CIA-Agent und er war einer der besten. Dann wechselte er die Fronten. Als möglicher Kronzeuge ist er für die Regierung äußerst wertvoll. Das wissen auch Frosts Auftraggeber. Kurzerhand dringen sie ins Safe House ein, und nur knapp entkommen Weston und Frost. Da die Gangster nur Frost wollen, gilt Weston als entbehrlich. Auf ihrer Flucht und Suche nach einer neuen, sichereren Zuflucht muss sich Weston wohl oder übel mit Frost verbünden und bekommt dabei mehr Action als ihm lieb ist und Gelegenheit, sich zu beweisen.
Die Hauptcharaktere in Safe House sind Tobin Frost (Denzel Washington), Matt Weston (Ryan Reynolds), Catherine Linklater (Vera Farmiga).
