- Michael Surber27. April 2025If you're watching this, one assumes you've already watched Part One of the Director's Cut. Part Two has also been filled in and the story expanded, just enough to be a concise finish. The epic level battle that spans much of this part is full on Snyder. If you like his storytelling, it's fantastic. If you don't, I forgive you. These films have gotten some brutal reviews. Don't believe them. There are none of the constraints from existing source material to deal with. Throw out the endless comparisons to Star Wars, it's truly NOT that universe. It's gritty and dirty. There are bloody deaths on every side. Just watch it.
- Zokkiie2. Mai 2026I liked the first one enough, but this was kind of a catastrophe. The pacing is completely all over the place — scenes drag on forever, while actual important moments feel rushed and undercooked. The nonstop slow motion somehow gets even worse here too. Instead of making the action feel epic, it just starts feeling cheap, repetitive, and exhausting after a while. There are still a few cool visuals and ideas here and there, but overall it feels bloated, messy, and way longer than it needed to be.
- Kevin Ward5. September 2025Director’s Cut - The Curse of Forgiveness My biggest complaint about this, and perhaps anout Zack Snyder in general, is….dude…stop with the slo-mo. This would be like a 110 minute movie instead of 3 hours if you simply cut out all the slo-mo and played at regular speed. I get falling in love with the imagery and wanting to soak in it, but I think movie would be served better if we cut 15 minutes of slow motion grain harvesting. That said, I liked this quite a bit. Derivative, for sure, but it’s really well-realized. And I think I’m sold on never watching a Zack Snyder theatrical release again when I know there is going to be an extended director’s cut. I think I’m 100% in terms of preferring his extended cuts far more than his theatrical cuts. I know I’m sort of talking out of both sides of my mouth a bit (cut out all the unnecessary slo-mo! Give me the longer director’s vision!)…but I do think there is a way to balance those two a little better. I liked it though. Was a little bit let down at the very end where it seems like there’s groundwork laid for a story that we’re (likely) never going to get. Maybe this wasn’t in the theatrical version 🤷🏻♂️? Oh well.
- Chris C14. Juli 2025The slow motion isn't nearly as annoyingly-omnipresent as in the first movie, so that's a giant improvement right off. The plot also improves and it isn't immediately obvious exactly what's going to happen this time, but don't mistake that for being a deep or moving plot. The world-building continues to be the best part about these films—it's just a shame that there's so much internal inconsistency from a logical standpoint. Snyder's hyper-stylized visuals are still here in full force, of course, and how you feel about those is likely to impact how you enjoy the movie as a whole, to a large extent. There was just barely enough to this movie to keep me watching, but it's hardly a great film and it will be easy to forget most of what happened afterwards.
- Mister Arn23. Mai 2025“Rebel Moon – Part Two” picks up where the first left off, spending its first half trying to build emotional weight before unleashing its final-act battles. The action is solid—spectacle worth seeing—even if I never really connected with the scrappy heroes. As for the villains, most fall surprisingly easily, except for their leader, who takes a lot more effort to put down.
- Ray Hopkin4. Februar 2026Despite the 4 hours of slow motion crop harvesting scenes, I really loved this. Again, as I said for Part 1, I haven't seen the original cut, and in all honesty, no one should see a Zack Snyder movie on its release day, as you know he's going to release a far superior director's cut later on! Anyway, as I say, despite the over indulgence of the slo-mo harvesting scenes taking way too long, the set up, the battle scenes and the finale all felt deserved because Snyder took time to let the characters breathe, and the cast did a great job in making us care (or hate, here's looking at you Skrein!). It's a beautiful movie to watch, with some absolutely stunning scenes. And I loved the story, I had a big stupid grin at the end, and I'm excited for the prospect of a Part 3.
- Steven Schwalger7. Januar 2026I have now watched both part 1 and 2 directors cut and it is night and day. Don't bother with the original cut as it is a piece of shit. The directors cut is epic. We'll worth the 6 and half hours for both movies. I hope they have the sense to finish the saga of with a part 3 and or part 4. The reason this is 4 stars and not 5 is, the second you start digging deeper into this movie it starts to fall apart. Example if the otherworldly can capture and enslave God like beings that can open portals in space to get from one galaxy to another why on earth do they insist on using its power for such primitive weapons. If you think about it they could just disappear worlds in an instant.... Just watch the movie and enjoy it for all of the gore and cool shit.
- tellum19. November 2025There are definitely way worse sci fi action movies, but many much better too. If you really like the characters from the first movie then you’ll probably like it. If you didn’t care for the characters, or don’t see the overwhelming importance of Grain in this universe, or prefer less than half the movie be in slow motion, then skip it.
- Walter Jospeh Kovacs26. Oktober 2025A satisfying conclusion but I hope there is more to come. I can't really criticise anything but I will praise the slow-motion throughout. Too much choreography of fight scenes is lost with cameras snapping frantically between angles and everything over int he blink of an eye but the slow motion really highlights the training, skills and accuracy of the fighters. I want more Rebel Moon universe and lore now.
