- Kevin Ward6. Juli 2025Psycho 2 opens by playing the shower scene from the first Psycho, possibly one of the most iconic scenes of all time. Thankfully, that opening is the only time I felt like this was just a legacy sequel cash grab. There are plenty of other callbacks to the original, but all of them felt like they had genuine narrative purpose. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this. It plays a little bit like a Scooby-Doo mystery (I mean that in the best way possible) complete with red herrings, disguises and twists galore. And there was one knife to the throat (or should I say down the throat) that was surprisingly gruesome. The entrance into the story with Norman being deemed sane, was clever and worked well to put Anthony Perkins back in the center of the story. I really didn’t love the final twist. Really felt like it was kind of tacked onto the end and to me it didn’t seem to make a ton of sense. Everything up until then was a sure-handed and compelling mystery.

22 Jahre nach den Ereignissen in „Psycho“ wird Norman Bates jetzt aus der Psychiatrie als geheilt entlassen und kehrt in das Haus seiner Mutter, mit dem kleinen Motel, zurück. Lila Loomis, die ihm damals fast zum Opfer gefallen war, ist nicht davon überzeugt, daß Norman gesund ist und macht sich daran, das nachzuweisen. Doch im Ort sind alle guter Hoffnung. Schon bald jedoch erklingt wieder die Stimme von Normans Mutter aus den alten Räumen und Zettelchen mit Nachrichten finden sich allerorten. Normans geistige Gesundheit leidet wieder Schaden, was auch die Freundschaft zu der Snack-Bedienung Mary nicht ganz ausgleichen kann. Bald gibt es die erste Leiche und keiner ahnt, daß mehrere Leute daran arbeiten, Norman seiner ursprünglichen Bestimmung zuzuführen.
