- M08Y17. Juli 2025Pride is a heartwarming and uplifing telling of the story of the famous Miners strike and the many groups supporting them, Inparticular, 'Lesbians and Gays Support the Miners'. It's a story of love, hate, prejudice and camaraderie all executed by an excellent cast, every single actor brings something slightly different to the table to complete the lineup of well realised characters. No new ground is broken as far as writing and directing go, this is not an issue however as Pride is not about that. The pacing is fairly breezy and the Welsh accents are very good. In today's climate, a film like this would have almost certainly have become ammunition in some battle over agenda and ideology, but fortunately for us all, 2014 was a simpler time. This is a heart warming story of people doing the best they can with what they have. Can comfortably recommend this film for a rainy day.

Um gegen Zechenschließungen und Privatisierung zu kämpfen, die Margaret Thatchers Regierung beschlossen hat, treten auch die Bergarbeiter eines walisischen Dorfs in den Streik. Unerwartete und nicht unbedingt willkommene Unterstützung erhalten sie von einer kleinen schwul-lesbischen Aktivistengruppe aus London, die für die Kumpel Spenden sammelt. Als die urbanen Exoten das Dorf besuchen, schlagen Vorurteile durch, herrscht zunächst Distanz, bis man entdeckt, dass es weit mehr Gemeinsamkeiten als Unterschiede gibt.
Die Hauptcharaktere in Pride sind Joe "Bromley" (George MacKay), Mark Ashton (Ben Schnetzer), Jeff (Freddie Fox).
