- Elijah22. Juni 2025How can anyone NOT like this movie?! I had a silly grin on my face for almost the entire movie. The story, the CGI, the humour, it's everything a good smash-em-up action movie should be. Easily one of the best movies of the year.

I loved the original and the rich, grimy world it built, so this brighter, goofier sequel felt like a step into a different, less compelling universe. The Jaegers still look fantastic, with slick designs and energetic battles, but the story feels undercooked and oddly detached from the emotional weight of the first film. Too many new faces crowd out the characters I cared about, and some returning ones are sidelined or changed in ways that didn’t work for me. Instead of a tonal pivot, I would have preferred a grounded prequel exploring the early days of the Kaiju War, perhaps as a limited series on Netflix or Amazon. Uprising has flashes of fun, but it never quite earns its scale or legacy, feeling more like a spin-off experiment than the worthy continuation this universe deserved. In the end, it left me strangely unsatisfied overall.

The sequel however feels more like an expensive episode of Power Rangers. The villain of the film is also laughably bad and makes the third act of the film just feel really lame.
