- M08Y24. September 2025I guessed most the film within about 8 minutes, but it was still an enjoyable experience. Oxygen is essentially a blend of Buried (2010) and Passengers (2016) to the point where there is barely an original idea here. With that said, the execution is overally really good, Mélanie Laurent turns in a great performance in quite a challenging role, managing to do a lot of acting in a very limited environment. Speaking of a limited environment, Oxygen was filmed during Covid.... and you can tell. There are barely any scenes with more than one person in it, and those that we get everyone is wearing masks. They do a fairly good job of making it work in the context of the film though, so I'll give them that. The big plot twist actually did surprise me, but not by much. You'll likely have guessed the consequences of the twist without guessing the exact nature of the twist. It was fairly well done. Overall, I give Oxygen a thumbs up for managing to make something decent out of second hand ideas. The visuals were up to scratch and the audio was actively quite good. The voice of MILO had very simiar effects to SENS in Upgrade (2018).
- mike59064. August 2025Wild ride, but pretty predictable. I made a prediction to my wife what was going on in the first 10 minutes of the movie. I was about 90% correct. That said, it was still enjoyable and the acting was fantastic. The only real complaint I have is that the lies she's being told by the callers are simply unnecessary. They were only there to keep the viewer confused but ultimately add nothing to the plot. There were also many unnecessary plot and time extenders (having her turn something off to make a reveal, rather than just telling her the truth) purely for dramatic effect.

Als die junge Elizabeth Hansen in einer kryogenen Kapsel erwacht, kann sie sich nicht daran erinnern, wer sie ist oder wie sie in diese Lage gekommen ist. Deutlich ist jedoch, dass der Sauerstoff in ihrem winzigen Gefängnis schnell knapp wird. In einem Wettlauf gegen die Zeit muss Elizabeth versuchen, hinter das Geheimnis ihrer Identität und ihrer Gefangenschaft zu kommen, bevor die Kapsel ihr Sarg wird. Als Hilfe steht ihr nur die künstliche Intelligenz MILO zur Verfügung.
