On a beautiful summer day, young Lea and her child friend Thomas are playing under a tall tree in the middle of nature, suspecting nothing when trucks approach on a dirt road. Uniformed men of the Waffen SS want to execute their hostages at this location. The two children secretly observe the gruesome events. A butterfly ensures that Lea, lost in thought, gets caught between the front of victims and perpetrators.
