Der junge Michael Jackson wird als achtes von zehn Kindern unter der strengen Führung seines Vaters Joe früh für eine Musikkarriere gedrillt wird. Mit der Familienband Jackson Five feiert er erste Erfolge, im Alter von 13 Jahren startet er bereits die Solokarriere. Auch im Erwachsenenalter ist sein Leben von der Musik dominiert. Ende der 1970er-Jahre lernt er bei Filmarbeiten Diana Ross und den Produzenten Quincy Jones kennen, was seine musikalische Ausrichtung grundlegend verändert. Das von Jones produzierte Album "Off the Wall" (1979) wird ein großer Erfolg, der 1982 durch die bahnbrechende und meistverkaufte Platte "Thriller" noch übertroffen wird. Parallel zu diesem Aufstieg kommt es zum Bruch mit seinem Vater Joe, den Jackson als Manager entlässt und durch den Anwalt John Branca ersetzt.

    colman domingo was great as joseph jackson, jafaar jackson was perfect as michael jackson, and michael jackson's songs were PEAKK in dolby atmos.

    Good movie, watched it with my family. Was a fun watch, if you don't know the background to many things that happened in his life back then, you will certeinly learn some things about Michael Jackson that you probably would never have learned in your life without watching this movie. The movie fails to show many of Michael's more many bad sides, like the constant lawsuits towards the end of his carrier, so that's why I wouldn't say it's a perfect movie, it doesn't show "all of the bad", it paints him as only an artist, but he was to some, much more than that.

    Made him out to be a victim and then a hero. He was talented and iconic but also a creep... convenient how it stopped in 1988

    Great music and great job all around from everyone. My opinion, so take it for what it's worth, I feel they really did an amazing job with Jaafar as Michael. I don't think they could have found anyone better for the role. Again, amazing work from all.

    I can’t get enough of this movie! Jaafar Jackson brought Micheal to life on screen and introduced him to a new generation of fans. Bring on the sequel 😎

    I really enjoyed this movie. The casting was perfect for Michael and the rest of the Jackson’s. The music was great. Only flaw is it did kinda feel like one giant music video, which I hope for the 2nd one it will explore more beyond the music and the consequences of being so famous. Overall, still an outstanding movie about the king of pop.
