- Mister Arn2. September 2025“Malibu Express” is pure ’80s exploitation, an excuse to string together flimsy gags, bursts of action, and ample breasts. The twists are there, but they are telegraphed, played with a wink rather than suspense. Performances are stiff, its treatment of women hasn’t aged well, and most of the humor misses its mark.

Neat twists, a good pacing and a likable cast, punching above weight class, make it a strong and fun watch. Also less formulaic than it's follow-ups. Highly recommended for group watches. Ironically fun rating 4.0/5.0. Intended filmmaking rating 3.0/5.0.
