Back in Action is an underrated Looney Tunes movie that never got the love it deserved, unlike Space Jam, which became a cultural phenomenon. It's funnier, it respects the characterization of Bugs Bunny, and it utilizes the other Looney Tunes characters in more creative ways. It's complete chaos that doesn't take itself too seriously, but sometimes it can be too meta for its own good, especially when the characters are nodding to the audience or transitioning through story beats too abruptly. It's more distracting for me than an actual issue, but I can only sit through so much self-referential humor. It's not a masterpiece, but you will almost certainly have a good time with this movie if you love the Looney Tunes... or Steve Martian, who genuinely has some of the funniest scenes. Also, I love the credits music. It encapsulates early 2000's energy, which I'm very nostalgic towards, since I was born one year before this movie came out. I'll never forget finding this movie on VHS when I was little and watching part of it with my dad. Sometimes I want to go back, man... 3.3/5.0

It's so cornily dated in 2025. This just oozes the early 2000s, but it's a fun nostalgic flick that's entertaining enough for one watch.

I just watched Looney Tunes: Back in Action, and I would give it a solid 4 out of 5 stars. This movie is a fun, fast paced, and energetic mix of animation and live action that brings the classic Looney Tunes characters to life in the best way possible. It does not get as much attention as other animated movies from the early 2000s, but it deserves more love for how well it captures the spirit of the original cartoons. From the very start, this movie throws you right into the classic Looney Tunes chaos. Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck are front and center, and their dynamic is just as entertaining as ever. Daffy, as always, steals the show with his over the top reactions and constant frustration, while Bugs keeps things cool and collected. The humor is exactly what you would expect from a Looney Tunes movie—fast, sharp, and filled with slapstick comedy that never slows down. Brendan Fraser is great in the lead role, bringing a lot of energy to the film. He is clearly having fun with it, and that makes a big difference. His interactions with the animated characters feel natural, which helps sell the idea that they exist in the real world. Jenna Elfman and Steve Martin also add to the fun, though Martin’s performance is a little more exaggerated than it needs to be. Still, the live action cast does a solid job of keeping up with the Looney Tunes madness. The animation is fantastic. The characters look great, and the way they blend into the real world is seamless. Every movement feels like classic Looney Tunes, with exaggerated expressions, wild reactions, and non stop energy. The film does not try to modernize the characters too much, which is a good thing. It stays true to the original cartoons while making sure they fit into a feature length movie. One of the best things about Looney Tunes: Back in Action is how much it respects the history of the franchise. There are tons of references and nods to classic cartoons, making it a treat for longtime fans. At the same time, the movie does not rely entirely on nostalgia. It has its own story and plenty of original jokes, so it still feels fresh and entertaining. The pacing is fast, sometimes a little too fast. Some scenes feel like they rush by before you have time to take in all the details. But for the most part, the movie keeps things balanced. The action sequences are fun, and the jokes come one after another, making sure there is never a dull moment. The humor is hit or miss, depending on what you expect. If you love classic Looney Tunes comedy, you will have a great time. The slapstick, wordplay, and meta jokes are all here. But if you are looking for something with a deeper story or more emotional moments, this movie is not really about that. It is just pure fun from start to finish. This is not a perfect movie, but it is a really enjoyable one. It is much better than it gets credit for, and it does a great job of bringing the Looney Tunes to a new generation while still respecting their roots. It may not be as well known as Space Jam, but in a lot of ways, it is a better representation of what makes these characters so great. If you are a fan of Looney Tunes, this is definitely worth watching. It is a fun, energetic movie that brings the classic characters to life in a way that feels true to their original cartoons.
