Bei dem Versuch, das Rätsel um seinen gefallenen Vater zu entwirren, beschwört er versehentlich den mächtigen Moon King, der voller Zorn auf die Erde hinabstürmt, um Rache zu üben. Plötzlich ist das gesamte Dorf in Gefahr und Kubo steht vor einer großen Herausforderung: Er muss Herr seiner Zauberkräfte werden und in die Rolle des Helden hineinwachsen, für die er geboren wurde.

- Zokkiie27. März 2026First time watching this since relase and wow, I wasn’t ready for how much I’d vibe with it. It’s got this really unique look that feels warm and crafted instead of flashy, and the atmosphere just pulls you in right away. The emotional moments land without trying too hard, which I appreciated a lot. It drags just a touch here and there, but nothing that really breaks the experience. Left me feeling a bit reflective by the end, in a good way.

- Ashton Cole16. Februar 2026Christ, the storytelling is so powerful, and the sword fighting choreography puts Star Wars' finest lightsaber battles to shame. I watched this in anticipation of Laika's next film, Wildwood, and if it's anything like this, we'll be happy. My only point of contention is how the fluidity of the stop-motion makes it only subtly different from CGI, as Coraline director Henry Selick has pointed out over the years. It's just too perfect.
- gmrxbox15. Oktober 2024The immaculate stop motion animation leaves my jaw on the floor. The scale of some of the creatures, the ability to make convincing water and waves. Boggles the mind. Not to mention, the bittersweet tale of a boy searching for his purpose, the journey that takes him on, and the characters that he meets along the way. Matthew McConaughey and Charlize Theron make great traveling companions. My only issue with this movie is that the overall conflict doesn't do a great job of hooking into the emotion shown around Kubo and his mother. Still definitely worth your time.
