- russrev1ewsvor 4 TagenSo Denzel is 71 years old. Spike is 69. How old would you guess Ilfenesh Hadera is? She’s 40. And I think this little bit of trivia is a good analogy for the movie of two older men trying cosplay as their former younger selves, and the result is actually kind of endearing. I wanted to not like this, but Spike sucked me in with a very unexpected soundtrack and some great character twists and conversations. I also love that no matter how mainstream Lee gets, he still is making these unique indie short films within a muddled Hollywood-ism he has to exist in. This movie is definitely worth the time and it’s fun to see two old guys try their best to be young again.

Sadly, not this time. Seriously, don’t bother watching it. Don’t wait to see if it picks up because it doesn't.
- erikackermann4. Mai 2026I really wanted to like this movie. It’s sad to see Denzel and Spike Lee make something like this that seems like an echo of their previous work. Awful script, inconsistent tone, weird soundtrack choices… just a bad movie unfortunately. It had potential too with this cast and the premise is cool but it’s really poorly executed. I wish Denzel would make a good movie again 😢

September 2025i mean... what? why would denzel play in this? must have been some of the worst garbage to come out this year.. who even wrote this stuff? it has a feeling of beeing written by someone who grew up with a silver spoon in their mouth.. the dialogue is terrible the acting is bad. ( and that is coming from someone where Denzel is in my top 3 list of all time favorites. ) naaah, this was not it. gawd dang this was boring.
- fordtough687. September 2025I have always been a huge Denzel fan. Absolutely massive fan! This was almost completely unwatchable. I feel like he is hard up for money or something, or owed someone a massive debt. Enough with the woke nonsense too. White, black, green or blue. We have all had enough. The ONLY good thing about this movie experience, was that I didnt pay to watch it.
- tellum4. März 2026I don’t care what the credits say, this is not a Spike Lee movie, it’s a Tyler Perry movie. The patriarchal figure who isn’t a good person but the audience is expected to relate to. The nonsensical plot with too many holes and loose ends to count. The mystifying dialogue and character motivations that make no sense. Denzel and Rocky did pretty good acting, but the only trope this was missing was an underground sex club.
