There were just too many plot points that were brought up and abandoned. e.g. Senator's son, both went to Yale, Hart's lie, etc. The German Colonel was almost the most sympathetic character. None of the characters were very well developed at all. I think this film was either edited poorly, or written without a cohesive point. If it did have a point, I didn't get it. This movie was worth the money I paid to see it, but not worth the time it took. If that makes any sense. It was also really damn slow.

Januar 2026Good cast, some good performances (not all, mind you). however, it's a very boring movie. at least the last few minutes, when we are supposed to care about 'die hard', made me laugh out loud.... do i have to say it? do yourself a favour and watch "the great escape" instead of this one. or, if you want some fun, how about "Escape to Victory"?

Der zweite Weltkrieg, ein Kriegsgefangenenlager für US-Soldaten bei Augsburg. US-Lieutenant Thomas Hart wird von dem höchsten gefangenen Offizier McNamara in eine gemeine Soldatenbaracke gesperrt. Dort kommen auch zwei schwarze Kampfpiloten unter, die sich ständig rassistischer Attacken erwehren müssen. Eines Tages findet man eine Waffe bei einem von Ihnen, der daraufhin hingerichtet wird. Am nächsten Tag liegt der Anführer der Rassisten tot in der Baracke. Sein Freund gerät unter Verdacht und kommt vor ein Tribunal, daß der deutsche Lagerkommandant die allierten Gefangenen selbst führen läßt. Hart wird mit der Verteidigung beauftragt und merkt bald, daß McNamara mit der Verhandlung ganz eigene Pläne verfolgt...
