My quick rating - 4.2/10. Such a shame to see the irreplaceable Sid Haig go out with this sour note. His performance at the beginning gave this movie some creepy feeling that it was going to be decent. Then the movie actually started and all hope was lost. After that point, the plot really exists, and is unsure if it should be a satire or serious film. In which, it fails on both. A killer is offing some young adults for being "bad Jews". I am quoting the phenomenal dialogue here. To go about this, the flick strays off the horror path and does this mostly off-screen. Effective 50 years ago, not so much anymore. But with poor acting and nearly no point to the why, unless you buy my quote, there just isn't enough tension to make you care. I will say the music is interesting in how it sounds for scene's sake but is by far highlighted during the end credits with a metal version of "Oh Hanukkah." All reasons for this movie are hinged on Jewish beliefs and this lack of belief causing their downfall. But even Jewish people will most likely be bored by the representation here and even if they finally have a horror movie to grasp onto, this one shouldn't be it. Heck, within the movie, two of them before making out even point the fact out that there just aren't enough scary Hanukkah movies out there. Yes, honey, you are correct, and this movie surely doesn't fix that problem. Oh, good news, the end informs us a sequel is coming lol.
