An ihrem 13. Geburtstag erfährt Marnie durch Zufall, dass sie magische Kräfte besitzt. Nachdem Marnie diese Neuigkeit verdaut hat, findet sie zudem heraus, dass sie einer uralten Familie von Hexen und Magiern entstammt. Um mehr über ihre Vorfahren zu erfahren, will sie ihre Großmutter Aggie, die ebenfalls eine Hexe ist, besuchen. Gegen den Wunsch der Mutter reist sie mit ihren Geschwistern nach Halloweentown, wo ihre Großmutter wohnt. In dem entzückenden kleinen Städtchen leben Hexen, Vampire, Zwerge und allerlei wunderliche Gestalten einträchtig nebeneinander. Dort beginnt für die Kinder ein Abenteuer voller Magie und Gefahren, bedroht doch ein böser Dämon die Stadt und ihre Bewohner.

    Doesn't hold up. Plot is weak, characters unlikeable, bad resolution. But still a classic nonetheless

    Obviously the movie shows its age and its budget, but the nostalgia still hits and it's still a good children's Halloween movie.

    I love this movie and have been watching it around halloween almost every year of my life. I only wish all versions of the movie were publicly available. For whatever reason every version out there is cropped pretty heavily from 3:2 to a 4:3 or from the 3:2 to a atrocious 16:9 on the streaming service. Disney really is letting us down with this one. Glad i somehow managed a copy of the original HD remaster because it was never sold and never aired as far as i can tell.
