- John Wilson23. September 2025For a propaganda film from WW2 it’s still quite watchable. It does actually tell the story of the US marine corps and what they did during the battle for Guadalcanal. Bear in mind that it was made less than a year after the actual events, so wartime bigotry is definitely on show, so take that into account when you hear it. It covers the loss of friends well, and the eventual hope of victory. It’s also good to see some very young actors who went onto bigger things. Enjoy it for what it is.
