- Rowan Krzysiak12. Februar 2025Seriously...this is long. Like over 3.5 hours long. With that time there is at least detail oozing out of every shot, set, costume and character. Is it worth it though? The story is merely nice enough and the whole yearning love thing is dealt with in such a dated fashion that to me it became a bit of an irritation. Glad it's done and without regret but there's nothing particularly memorable and I'd never want to see it again.

Gable and Leigh jump off the screen with their performances and become icons. Hattie McDaniel was the first black woman to win for BS Actress. Lots of other firsts in the film! For the weaklings in the audience, yes the Civil War was fought over slavery, we know that- Ken Burns told us that... point?
