Mai 1962 wird der italienische Luxusdampfer Antonia Graza vor der Küste von Labrador vermisst: Er verschwand einfach von der Bildfläche ohne Notruf, ohne Funkkontakt. 40 Jahre später entdeckt Air-Force-Pilot Jack Ferriman die Antonia Graza im Beringmeer treibend vor der Küste Alaskas. Allein die Bergungsrechte sind ein Vermögen wert, denn wer ein herrenloses Schiff in internationalen Gewässern findet, darf es in Besitz nehmen. Deswegen engagiert Ferriman Captain Sean Murphy und sein Bergungsteam unter Leitung von Maureen Epps mit ihrem Spezialboot Arctic Warrior können sie jedes Schiff aufspüren, seetüchtig machen und an Land schleppen. Aber sie verlangen einen hohen Preis. Doch an Bord des gespenstischen, verrotteten Ozeanriesen entdeckt die Crew der Arctic Warrior, dass das Schiff durchaus nicht herrenlos ist.

- ርልዪረ23. August 2025Honestly people may judge me for this rating, but I honestly enjoy this movie. I watch it all the time. The opening act is the best I have seen in a horror movie. Its one of my fave cheesy horror movies.
- Halim Mellick18. August 2025I don’t know why this movie has such low ratings. It’s a somewhat original spin on the horror tropes of its time. Reminded me a lot of Event Horizon but on water. Special effects are fantastic (besides the external miniatures) especially the opening. Definitely worth a watch if you’re into horror

I would recommend this movie even without a high rating, you either hate it or love to hate it. I also recently had a fun fact given to me. The voice actor for Atlas from the game Bioshock Karl Hanover used Gabriel Byrne as a model for his accent and its pretty dead on once you notice it haha.

- Richard21. Oktober 2025Saw it in the cinema, bought it on DVD, because that opening scene alone earned a permanent spot in horror history. This one’s a moody, metal scored ghost story wrapped in early 2000s horror aesthetics: grimy, stylish and unapologetically over the top. A salvage crew boards a long lost ocean liner drifting in the Bering Sea, only to find that the real cargo is trauma, betrayal and one hell of a wire scene. Gabriel Byrne anchors the cast, Julianna Margulies brings some grounded grit and Karl Urban shows up just before his Lord of the Rings breakout, playing a scrappy salvage tech with a torch in hand and zero survival instincts. The plot’s a bit patchy, but the atmosphere is thick with rust, rot and that deliciously dated CGI glow. It’s part haunted house, part maritime mystery and part nu metal music video and somehow, it works. Critics weren’t kind, but honestly? It’s fun. It’s spooky. It’s got a killer soundtrack and a ghost girl who deserved better.
