Friendship has some good bits, but I feel it was simply a toned down version of Tim's usual style. Without taking the leap of going full bore into his absurdist comedy style, the movie is otherwise left to an odd tone and pacing that doesn't quite work. Still, like most of Tim's work, Friendship feels like an anxious unpredictable fever dream. He's nailed that again regardless of how much the actual comedy has been dialed back. If you like his usual stuff, you'll like this.

- ricomckee21. Juni 2025So the movie attempts to say something meaningful within the context of a dark comedy. The problem is, it is missing something meaningful ,the comedy, and it’s not dark. There’s a lot of Cringe here but the reality is it misses the mark on many levels. It wants to make a statement about the true impact of isolation & loneliness that men can feel. Many men don’t know how to make friendships because it’s hard to be open & vulnerable which is how relationships are built. This movie aims to show how this can go wrong. Except… Craig’s actually the most sane of everyone. Rudd’s character is a douche nozzle & fake on multiple levels. Craig’s family is horrible. And… Craig may actually need medical help -yet- even when everything is falling down- he is actually a true friend while everyone else is fake. Yeah- this message came through but that could have been done in 10min. Rudd is wasted. And a movie with a meaningful message and social commentary could have been made here but this is not it.

Mai 2025While I do think this would have worked better as a short, I think there should be more movies with this kind of mainstream appeal whose express purpose is to make the audience deeply uncomfortable. There was at least three scenes in this movie that made me laugh so hard and long that my stomach hurt.

- Johann21. Dezember 2025Tim Robinson has a very specific sense of humor. This is a whole movie of it. The cirucmstances are hilarious, but I can't really say that it was fun to watch. I'm glad I saw it and I look forward to consuming more Time Robinson content when the mood is right.
- LivewireAdmin6. Dezember 2025"I look like a Marvel!" Another movie that letterboxd lists as 2024 but it for sure didn't get a wide release until this year, 2025. This is probably comedy of the year for me. It was essentially an hour and a half long episode of I Think You Should Leave. Tim Robinson's type of humor kills me. He crafts these different scenarios where he's so socially awkward but the world in which his characters inhabit are also off-kilter. It leads to some seriously uncomfortable situations where you just can't help but laugh to escape it. I will watch anything Robinson puts out at this point.
