Not as gruesome and not as clear as we were told, so he supposedly died in the first film yet is alive now? If his death triggered his mum into violence yet his mum's death triggered him to go violent then I am confused who is avenging who

Easily surpasses the original, and sets the template for both Jason and the series, upping the body count with more elaborate kills. This is a standout slasher film for having such likeable characters alone.

They really just wanted to do Friday the 13th again but without the sorta interesting end twist.

IF YOU HAVE SEX JASON IS GOING TO KILL YOU.

Contains one of the best final girls ever in Amy Steel's Ginny and has some of the most likeable characters in a Friday flick. My life long crush on Kirsten Baker's Terry is also I think the reason I've always been an ass man 😂. Finally I think Mark's death is one of the best and most iconic moments in the series. I love this movie! 👍👍 9/10

So for my Oct 2025 challenge to watch all Friday the 13th movies this is my second installment. This one is not as strong at the first one. Seems to lean on the T&A factor a little more and in 1981 that definitely brought teenagers to the screens to watch. Very thin plot line and even lighter on the quality of acting but still not a terrible movie. The special effects were pretty good for its time and I bet quite revolutionary too umungst pros. Slipping dow to a 3 star on this one, hope 3D gets better.....

Better than the original and Jason’s first appearance even if it’s without the hockey mask.

Personally it's my favorite of the series. Horror and suspense taken seriously in this sequel.

After a lengthy recap and dispatching the survivor of the first film (setting up a strange trend in horror movies - kill the previous survivor before opening credits. It worked for Irpn Eagle 2) Jason finally arrives! But he’s burlap sack Jason till 1982. He’s not iconic hockey mask Jason till part 3. The plot is simple - fill 90 minutes with blood, breasts and a killer about become an icon. Open with an extended flashback to save money on film…and it keeps the script lean. Introduce the victims…I mean characters. Chase and kill said victims. Jason is defeated. Story ends. This one did feel more like an extended cat mouse kind of chase film, though. It felt very relentlessly paced, where you blink and could miss something cool. So it had that going for it. Steve Miner stepped in to direct the sequel and did well. Betsy Palmer even came back for a brief cameo as Jason’s mother, a role she cared so little about that she actually forgot she was in it. This movie is not flat. The pacing keeps it from feeling dull. However, there are problems with the film. I’m not gonna criticize the acting. It’s a low budget 80’s horror film. You don’t go in expecting Meryl Streep level work. The biggest problem is that it really didn’t make sense to have Jason show up. How did he survive for so many years on his own? I know the movie tried to explain it, but it was not handled with care. Another complaint is the near cookie cutter plot it shared with the first film from the initial set up to Ralph warning the campers about the “death curse”. There were things I liked about the movie. I loved the kills. They may have copied the plot, but they were creative with displaying the teens in the movie. I’m also a red blooded American male who appreciates the female form, and there is much to appreciate here, not as much as 4 or 5, but some really worthwhile moments to appreciate the finer things. Finally, as a fan of The Town That Dreaded Sundown, I appreciated the burlap sack in the film. It was a nice not to an early slasher. I’m glad the sack was replaced in part 3. Jason wouldn’t have risen to the heights he had without the hockey mask. Enough said about this movie. It’s worth it if you’re a fan. It’s not going to convert anyone, but for fans of the genre, you’ll find a lot to appreciate.

This may not be the origin of the franchise but it was certainly the movie with which the die was cast. So much of what I love of the series can be found here: The ominous Jason as antagonist, a multitude of murder sequences and a favourite of mine, what I call Friday the 13th window break. One thing I wish to mention, as a wheelchair user myself I find that the inclusion of the character of Mark and how he was portrayed in the the movie by Tom McBride, as well as the way in which friendships and relationships are shown shows what a consider a light and deft touch, a surprise due to the heavy handed nature of Slasher movies. That and many other reasons is why this movie has a little spot in my heart and is, to me, pretty faultless
