The Laurentian Mountains in Québec, Canada are a winter sportsperson's mecca. The sports are not limited to the alpine variety as professional figure skater Pete Curran shows off his moves on a skating rink, and some others are seen partaking in skijoring, the sport of skiing while being pulled by those on horseback. But the alpine sports rule in this region, downhill skiing the king. Alex Foster, the owner of the Foster Laurentian Ski Park and a former captain of the Canadian Olympic ski team, is also the inventor of the tow rope, which he installed at the park twenty years ago. Beyond a slalom ski race - skiers racing against the clock in a downhill course in which they have to navigate around a series of poles - being shown, Foster hopes one day to have the sport of skierette a competitive event, it, which he demonstrates, the downhill skiing equivalent of figure skating. One does not have to be a winter sports enthusiast to want to vacation in the region as the town of Ste-Agathe has much to offer in the area of "après-ski".
