Jason, an able bodied artist is obsessed with amputees and the transformation of cicadas. Jason takes his obsession one step further by pretending to be an amputee to meet Angela, an ex dancer who has lost her leg in an accident, through an amputee support Internet site. When they meet in person they fall in love but when she discovers his deception, she rejects him. His attempts to win her back leads to his own confronting transformation, while coming to terms with his amputee obsession.
