- Varun19. Oktober 2024A beautifully animated movie about a classic story of dreams, love and sacrifice told in a charming and entertaining way. I was really surprised and delighted to hear Indian music in majority of the soundtrack. A lot of recent Disney animated movies tend to have preachy flashy scenes towards the second half of the movie that feel formulaic and forced, but was glad to see Elemental having a sense of simplicity and letting audiences freely enjoy the wonderful moments.

- LivewireAdmin3. Februar 2026This felt like it was Pixar attempting to tackle some very serious, current societal and cultural issues but somewhere along the way it got neutered. I'm a Pixar fan through and through, I will always praise their storytelling ability and while their protagonists were interesting enough, every time the story felt like it was going somewhere or building to something we kind of hit the reset button and fixated on the same "we're from different worlds, we can't make this work" trope. I think this will land somewhere in the mid to low tier for my rankings. It didn't break the mold and it didn't tug at my heart strings the way a lot of their other movies do, and that's okay. Not every one of their films has to be emotionally devastating. It all makes a little more sense now why I subconsciously skipped this one.

- Kevin Ward2. Juli 2025Wet Side Story Elemental is a really cute romantic comedy and immigrant story. Ember’s family immigrates from Fire Island to Element City, for a chance at a new life. Though Element City has the promise of a cultural melting pot, Ember’s family finds they have a hard time mixing with the other cultures. Upon arrival ember’s parents are even given new names Bernie and Cinder because their given names are too hard for locals to pronounce. Bernie in particular has a certain disdain for “water guys,” because of some events of his past. Bernie is dedicated to pursing his dream of passing his store down to Ember so that she can have a successful future. But when Ember puts the business in grave danger with a little help from Wade Ripple, (water guy and building inspector), she’s forced to work with Wade try to save her business. Wade, despite all his wet privilege, has an incredibly caring heart and ignites a spark inside Ember that she never fully realized was there. While it is a cute romance, I really found the immigrant story and the Bernie-Ember story to be the most moving. Bernie’s desire to keep a piece of their cultural flame burning, and not assimilate into their new world is a compelling story. It also makes him somewhat blind to his daughter’s true wants. Probably helps that I watched this with my daughter, too. We both had a great time and shared some tears.
