The story follows a man who wakes up in an unknown environment and slowly uncovers what is happening around him—a familiar narrative structure that has been used many times before. What makes the film stand out, however, is not the originality of the plot, but its atmosphere. The setting is striking and oppressive, creating a strong sense of mystery and discomfort. The soundtrack works very well with the visuals, reinforcing the film’s mood and helping immerse the viewer in its bleak world. Visually, the film makes creative use of limited tools, relying more on suggestion and ambiance than on exposition. Overall, Eden Log is an okay, reasonably solid film. It may not be groundbreaking in terms of storytelling, but it compensates with an intriguing aesthetic and a distinctive audiovisual identity. Considering how formulaic and “sanitized” much of today’s mainstream cinema feels, Eden Log comes across as a respectable and worthwhile experience.

In einer unterirdischen Höhle erwacht Tolbiac nackt und vollkommen orientierungslos. Er weiß weder wer, noch wo er ist. Als er nach und nach zu Kräften kommt, beginnt er die Suche nach dem Ausgang und folgt dabei einer Route von einer Lichtquelle zur nächsten. Nachdem er zunächst lediglich auf Leichen und nicht sehr aussagekräftige Videoinstallationen trifft, begegnet er einem Menschen, der mit einer Art Wurzel verwachsen zu sein scheint, jedoch noch am Leben ist und ihm mitteilt, er sei der Architekt dieses Labyrinths und dass alles jetzt zu Ende sei. Als der Protagonist furchteinflößende Laute hört, wendet er sich ab und sucht weiter nach dem Ausgang. Dabei stößt er auf diverse Videoinstallationen, Laboratorien, mutierte Menschen und eine Botanikerin.
Die Hauptcharaktere in Eden Log sind Tolbiac (Clovis Cornillac), Last botanist (Vimala Pons), Technician (Zohar Wexler).
