Dogma
Dogma Rezensionen & Wertungen
- tellum12. April 2025I don’t know that you can satire religion harder than this movie.
- philre8213. September 2025A true masterpiece, funny thought provoking, and deserves more acclaim.
- vangh129. Juli 2025Re-visited this in theatre for the re-release, having not seen it for approximately 20 years but having fond memories of it. Having seen a couple of interviews with Kevin Smith where he insists Dogma isn't meant to be an inflammatory work lambasting religion, it's really clear that that's true. Of course, he takes a lot of creative liberties with the good book as well, in the name of interesting storytelling, and he is just an irreverent storyteller by nature so it's nonetheless no surprise how much negative backlash this has seen. He also described it as a bible story by way of badass superheroes and super villains and it's easy see the overlap there for sure. This time around I was struck by how 90% of the dialogue in this thing is either exposition or a throwaway joke (the former being necessary given the marriage of high concept plot and religious mythology, the latter because Kevin Smith) but it still works because the idea and execution are just that fun, and because the other 10% of dialogue is pretty much every character getting at least one badass monologue.
- Duncan Smith27. Juni 2025Brilliant. God does approve. Why else would he give us a sense of humour?
- Zokkiie25. Dezember 2025Having seen Dogma many times, it’s still hilarious and smart — angels, apocalypse, and Kevin Smith’s wit never get old. Great cast, clever mix of humor and deeper themes. Finally remastered, and worth watching again!
- paint6019. Dezember 2025This movie is flawless. I would give it 20 stars if I could. It is a brilliant takedown of the idiocy of organized religion without taking down the actual ideas supported by Christ. Hilarious and thought provoking.
- Joshua Leach17. Oktober 2025If your a fan of Jay and Silent Bob, we know why you are here. Outside of that, good concept, pretty fun watch. I hate Matt Damon but has Alan Rickman.
- Ruckus_rider7. Oktober 2025Such a great follow up movie for Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, and among others, post Good Will Hunting. The one liners in this script are hilariously witty and will have you in tears laughing. Second best religions movie behind The Prince of Egypt.
- mickerdoo30. Juni 2025Aside from all the blasphemy it has some funny moments. Gets a little pretentious at points and there is a lot of info dump.
